Why attend the ISS Annual Meetings

If you are still undecided about attending the ISS Annual Meeting to be held, Feb. 21-23, consider the opportunity to meet and network with a group of cutting-edge and transgressive scholars, thinkers, and artistes. Up close and personal interactions along with collaborative work have become the signature takeaway from ISS meetings since they first convened in 2015.

Notable highlights from the 2018 Annual Meeting (Fort Worth, TX) include:

  • A plenary address to set the tone for the seminars and group discussions to follow.
  • Seminar sessions using Zygmunt Bauman’s book Interpreters and Legislators as a springboard for thinking broadly about discourse and power.
  • Launch of a new collaborative research project – Scripturalizing Here and There
  • Group discussions to engage the seminar with individual projects, questions, and issues
  • Session on perfomative interactions and interpretations
  • Conversation and interaction with Tommy J. Curry (philosopher @ Texas A&M)

ISS Annual Meeting (2019) will convene in Memphis, TN. If you have not registered for the event, click on the link or this webpage: http://www.signifyingscriptures.org/fourth-annual-meeting-february-21-23-2019-memphis-tn/ for more details.
